9th August, 2022
As I sit here writing this welcome to our friends and members, I can’t help but think what happened to July. It was certainly a month of twists and turns with Macao being thrust into partial lockdown. Many of us have farewelled close friends and colleagues looking for change in their lives or indeed, going into new roles in new cities.
I welcome August and the return of some normality and am thankful that we have all weathered the storm that was thrust upon us. As a chamber, we are energetic about growing our organization and bringing to you interesting events and topics throughout the year. Although we had a little break from this due to the events in July, our Board still continued to meet and plan activities for the upcoming months the first of which is on the 24th August with our Speaker Mr Paul Chong, Corporate Director, Panmeta Corporation. He will be presenting on “WeChat Insights and Simple Strategies”. The doors open at 6.15 pm and the talk starts at 6.30 pm.
This morning when I woke up, I was saddened by the news of the passing of one of Australia’s icons – Olivia Newton John. I am sure she was well known to many of you and sadly lost her battle with cancer. Throughout the day I have watched a number of interviews and what was evident throughout all of them was her energy and her positive attitude towards life. She was given some fantastic opportunities and some challenging ones too.
So, it made me think of a comment by John F Kennedy, “Change is the law of life and those who only look to the past and present are certain to miss the future”.
So, lets put these recent months behind us and together look forward to the future.
I look forward to seeing you on the 24th, if not sooner.
Warm regards,
Janet McNab
