Billy Chan has been elected for a new term as chairman of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Macau (AustCham Macau) after receiving support from members at a general assembly meeting held on Wednesday.
The new executive board of directors includes Vinni Leong from tech firm Winson Group as treasurer, Alan Yung from mPlus Sports Media firm, and Max Caruso, headmaster of Hengqin’s Harrow Li De School. Liviano Lacchia continues as Vice-Chair, alongside directors Stephen Berry (Secretary), Eddie McDougall, Denise Lau, and Timothy Bruce.
In a statement to MNA, Billy Chan said AustCham Macau is able to branch out to new areas via the new members, namely the Greater Bay Area through Hengqin. “We are here mainly to create opportunities for Macau and Australian businesses.”The new election takes place as China lifted tariffs on Australian wine, a fortunate coincidence, Billy Chan notes. “The lifting of tariffs imposed three years ago is truly exciting news for our wine producers, growers, and traders, particularly for our Australian chamber members in the wine trade, facilitating commerce between China and Australia,” he emphasized.
Billy Chan is the Director of the Centre for Education in Medical Simulation at Macau University of Science and Technology and also serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation, among other social roles.
