Hengqin’s education sector is experiencing rapid development, with an increasing number of Macau students choosing to study in the region, Max Caruso, the headteacher of Harrow Li De School Hengqin said.

At the Power Hour talk held by the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Macau (AustCham Macau) on Wednesday, the educator shared his diverse life experiences around the world, which have enriched his understanding of educational dynamics.

On the sidelines of the event, Dr.Caruso told Macau News Agency (MNA) that the Hengqin government had been constantly making efforts to facilitate the growth of the education sector and motivate more schools to establish a presence in the region.

The head of the international school in Hengqin revealed that although currently only 20 per cent of their students are from Macau, this number is expected to expand as more Macau residents are relocating to Hengqin and border restrictions are anticipated to be relaxed.

“We are already seeing an influx of Macau residents coming to the island. We look forward to seeing business developed because it creates the society,” he said.

He emphasised that schools in Hengqin offer diverse curricula tailored to the needs of a varied group of children and their parents. Additionally, he mentioned the likelihood of more schools being opened in the area to meet growing demand.
